Sada Holland — a portrait

What do you do at NetSource Technologies, and how long have you worked here?
I started the first week of November, 2011. I have mainly been doing web design and web updates. I have also done logo and print work.

Do you have any nicknames?
Sada Potayta, Sayd, SaySay

When is your birthday?
August 14th (Proud LEO!)

Hometown/Where have you lived?
Born and raised in Silver Springs (The Forest), FL. Currently live in Ocala, FL.

When did you become interested in art and design?
For as long as I can remember, I have always been interested in art. My Father is very artistic and creative, and always worked with me growing up to become a better artist.

When did you become interested in creating websites?
When I started going to college to learn Graphic Design.

What is your favorite part of creating a new website?
Figuring out the correct code to make something work as you want it to in a website.

What is your favorite part of your job?
Constantly learning how to be a better web designer.

When did you become interested in computers and technology?
Elementary school… computer lab… Oregon Trail.

What piece of technology could you not live without?
My phone.

What do you like to do on the weekends?
Relax, and spend time with family and friends. When the weather is nice, I am most likely near the water.

Do you have any hobbies?
I’m very big into Arts & Crafts. Currently I am making earrings and learning how to sew.

What are the top three moments in your life so far?
Having my son and graduating college were huge moments in my life. Since graduation, I have been very lucky and thankful to get jobs in my career field, so it is always a top moment to feel as if college had really paid off towards my career.

What is your favorite color?
Growing up it was Blue, but now I tend to favor Green.

What is your favorite food / drink?
Any type of pasta / water.

What is your favorite musician or type of music?
I can’t say I have one favorite band, I have many. Mostly anything from the 60s and on in the genre of rock would have to be my fav. In my car, Deftones “White Pony” is currently in my CD player, my radio station usually stays on X102.9 or 95.5 Wind FM, and although I like other types of music, I really only switch to country or pop if a commercial is on.

What is your favorite sport? Do you have a favorite team?
Football. Dallas Cowboys.

What are your favorite TV shows?
Friends, The Office, Sex and the City, How I Met Your Mother, and when I was younger, The Wonder Years, Saved by the Bell, and Full House.

What are your favorite movies?
In general, I really love situational, one-liner type comedies, almost any movie written by John Hughes, and my son and I are big fans of the Transformers movies.

What are your favorite books / magazines?
Unfortunately, I’m not a big reader. I might browse through a book once a year. Last one I started reading was The Lovely Bones.

What are your favorite websites or blogs?
Google, since I use it as my staring point for everything when I go online, Pinterest, which is like the best site ever made for a person into crafts, baking, fun ideas, children’s activities, woman, and Tudvid.com is one of my favs for Adobe tutorials.

Twitter or Facebook? (and why)
Just Facebook. I was always behind on the trend to get a social media page. When MySpace was big during the Stone Age, I rebelled against having one. When I finally made one, everyone was moving on to Facebook. I finally made the change over. I like the layout and simplicity of Facebook, plus I see no need to get a Twitter, to do the same thing I do on Facebook. Maybe years from now I’ll finally jump on the Twitter bandwagon, but probably not any time soon.

Tell us about your family!
Family is a very big deal in my book. My parents moved here from Ohio in the 80s to get away from a small town and snow to welcome the Florida sun. Luckily, my younger sister and I are Florida born and raised! We also have a step mother and younger step brother that are very close in our lives. My parents come from big families, 5 to 6 siblings on each side, so besides our Grandparents, we have lots of Aunts, Uncles, cousins, etc., and we are very close with mostly all of them. I started my own family in 2008 with the birth of my amazing son.

Do you have any pets?
Well technically no, but I am a second mom to an extremely wonderful and lovable Red Nose Pit mix.

If you could visit anywhere in the world, where would you go?
As lame as it sounds, I have always wanted to visit Holland, just because it’s my last name.

If you couldn’t be a Web Designer anymore, what career would you pursue?
Almost 100% sure I would be a Teacher. Later in life, I will most likely pursue a teaching degree in the field of art.

If you could choose to have any superpower, what would it be?
I’ve always though having the power to be invisible would be pretty cool.

How do you think technology and/or web design will change in the next 10-20 years?
With how advanced technology is getting, in 10-20 years we will probably all have devices that read our mind to give us what we want. Scary…

What tips would you give to a business that is just starting out with their first website?
I have always though that getting to the point is what people want. When someone looks for your business online, they most likely already know what they are looking for. When you go into your first meeting with the designer, make sure you have thought out everything you want to display on your site. Have an idea of what you think your customers are looking for, and what you want to get out of having a website for your business. Make sure your site has an eye-catching and uncluttered look, your product is easy to find, has detailed product information, and easy to find contact information. Make your site very user friendly, so they do not have to do a lot at their end to find what they want or to get ahold of you.
