I’m a Designer, and I’ve been here for five months.

July 27th

Hometown / Where have you lived?
Born in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, moved to Gainesville, Florida, lived in Savannah, Georgia for college, and now I live in Ocala, Florida.

When did you become interested in art and design?
I’ve always been interested in it, but I didn’t try until I was around sixteen.

When did you become interested in creating websites?
When I learned CSS! Before then, I thought making websites was super boring.

What is your favorite part of creating a new website?
Probably making it work. That, or seeing how many features I can pump into a design without breaking it. I live on the edge.

What is your favorite part of your job?
When I get to do new things!

When did you become interested in computers and technology?
Since I first played Oregon Trail in Elementary School. Those were the days.

What piece of technology could you not live without?
The internet. Hands down.

What do you like to do on the weekends?
Work on my film, write stories, draw, hang out with friends, and a healthy amount of bumming around.

Do you have any hobbies?
Filmmaking, drawing, writing, exercising, and playing a huge game of tag called Humans vs. Zombies.

What are your top three moments in your life so far?
Learning that animation/design was actually a career path, Going to SCAD, and meeting my best friend

What is your favorite color?
Blue (Sorry!)

What is your favorite food / drink?
Mountain Dew Baja Blast! Only every couple of weeks, though, and as far as I know it’s only at Taco Bell.

What is your favorite musician or type of music?
If it sounds good, I’ll listen to it. Favorite bands are The Killers and Hall & Oates.

What is your favorite sport? Do you have a favorite team?
My favorite sport is Humans vs. Zombies. My favorite real sport is football, and team is the Miami Dolphins!

What are your favorite TV shows?
The Walking Dead, iCarly (Very long story), Happy Endings, How I Met Your Mother, Batman Beyond.

What are your favorite movies?
The Avengers(!), Spider-man, The Amazing Spider-man, Iron Man, Spirited Away, Toy Story.

What are your favorite books / magazines?
The Astonishing Adventures of Fanboy and Goth Girl, The Animator’s Survival Kit, The Perks of Being a Wallflower, most Marvel comics/graphic novels.

What are your favorite websites or blogs?
Tumblr.com, Smashingmagazine.com, Motionographer.com.

Facebook. I like to keep in touch with friends!

Do you have any pets?
One day I’ll get a puppy. One day.

If you could visit anywhere in the world, where would you go?
Japan, if only to see if it’s really as weird as TV and the internet makes it out to be. Then New Zealand.

If you couldn’t be a web developer anymore, what career would you pursue?
Probably commercial director, concept artist or writer.

If you could choose to have any superpower, what would it be?
Super speed, without the super metabolism. It’d get expensive buying all that food.

How do you think technology will change in the next 10-20 years?
There’ll be fully transparent monitors, contact lenses with integrated HUD, and 1-2 universal coding languages. Skynet will also be a thing.

What tips would you give to a business that is just starting out with their first website?
Work with someone reputable, at least until you know what you’re doing. It’ll save you a huge headache.
