Team Profile: Veronica Buhl

VeronicaEMPLOYEEpic300x300What is your name?

Veronica Buhl

Do you have any nicknames?

Family tend to call me Ronni. Most simply call me Veronica or V.

When is your birthday?

January 20th.

Hometown/Where have you lived?

I was born and raised on Long Island, New York in a town called Patchogue but I have lived many places throughout my life from Oak Ridge, TN to Hartford, CT (while attending The Hartt School of Music) to Victoria, B.C., Canada, The Netherlands, and Germany. I’ve been fortunate to have traveled a lot.

What do you do at NetSource Technologies, and how long have you worked here?

I am a Social Media Account Manager and I am new to the team.

When did you become interested in creating websites?

It happened out of necessity about 9 years ago when I was asked to create one for a friend and then I just kept doing it for people.

What is your favorite part of creating a new website?

The overall aspect of creating anything is exciting to me. I like creating something from nothing whether it be a website or music or writing a blog. However, my favorite thing about creating a new website is revealing the site to the client and seeing how close I came to their expectations. I won’t stop until I’ve met their standards and expectations. The same goes for my social media efforts as well.

What is your favorite part of your job?

I love writing blogs and content. Again it’s that act of creating something from nothing.

When did you become interested in computers and technology?

I’ve always been a techie kind of person. When new technology comes out I need to see what it’s all about and how it works.

What piece of technology could you not live without?

My iPhone. It’s becoming indispensable for being able to stay in touch and stay productive no matter where I am.

What do you like to do on the weekends?

I like to read, write blogs and create websites, travel, go for drives, spend time with friends and family, listen to music, play guitar, cook, watch movies, and basically do anything that’s relaxing and creative. I have so many interests there hardly seems enough time to do them all but I try.

Do you have any hobbies?

I like to write, play guitar, read, travel, and I am trying to teach myself to speak German. My grandparents were from Germany so I thought it would be cool to learn.

What are your top three moments in your life so far?

Getting accepted into The Hartt School of Music as a classical guitarist; Having my first book published last year and sold on the major book sites like Amazon, etcetera; and having the chance to travel the world for several years seeing places like Canada, The Netherlands, Germany, Czech Republic, Ireland, England, Switzerland, and many others.

What is your favorite color?

Usually it’s blue or black but pink is also very nice.

What is your favorite food/drink?

If it’s dark chocolate I’ll eat it. I also like any kind of tea particularly green or English Breakfast tea.

What is your favorite musician or type of music?

I am a huge lifetime Beatles geek. I also obviously love classical especially classical guitar music but there are very few types of music I don’t like.

What are your favorite TV shows?

Currently The Blacklist (I mean…James Spader, people!) and Orphan Black but there are many others. My Netflix and Amazon Video watch lists are overflowing with shows I want to watch.

What are your favorite movies?

I really loved the movie French Kiss with Meg Ryan and Kevin Kline but there are really too many to mention. I love movies that make me feel good, inspire me, or take me on some type of adventure.

What are your favorite books/magazines?

I like autobiographies, self-improvement, and any book that I can learn from or feel uplifted by.

What are your favorite websites or blogs?

Facebook (I like to keep in touch with friends and family there), Amazon (with Prime I can shop and have things almost immediately plus watch great shows and movies), and PaulMcCartney.com (Did I mention I was a Beatles geek? LOL!)

Twitter or Facebook? (and why?)

Facebook. I can keep in touch with family and friends there. Twitter is too restricting. I mean, who can say anything definitive in 140 characters. I like to write so that’s just too much pressure for me.

If you could visit anywhere in the world, where would you go?

I’ve visited many places already but I think I would like to visit Norway, possibly Iceland, and I would love to see other parts of Canada like Quebec.

If you couldn’t be a Social Media Account Manager anymore, what career would you pursue?

I always wanted to be a professor at a university and teach so perhaps I would finally pursue that. I am currently finishing up my B.A. in M.I.S. so I am interested in Database Management as well.

If you could choose to have any superpower, what would it be?

Teleportation and the ability to heal myself and others.

How do you think technology and/or web design will change in the next 10-20 years?

I think web design will start to integrate more virtual reality type of designs. I also think AI will probably start to become more common place and accepted.

What tips would you give to a business that is just starting out with their first website?

Keep it simple and easy to look at. Don’t forget the basic information about your business like hours, address, contact information, etcetera. Also don’t feel like you have to do everything at once. Start basic and build up as required. Also, don’t stress out about it. Any action towards a new website is progress and more than you had before. Just keep moving forward.
